How Long Does a Housing Disrepair Claim Take?
The Claim Timeline
Every case is different, but here is a typical roadmap:
1. Assessment (Week 1)
We review your evidence and assess if you have a valid claim.
2. Letter of Claim (Week 2-4)
We send a formal letter to your landlord detailing the repairs needed and compensation sought.
3. Landlord Response (Month 1-3)
Landlords have a statutory period to respond. They may send their own surveyor.
4. Settlement or Court (Month 4-12)
Most cases settle out of court. The landlord agrees to repairs and pays compensation. If they dispute it, we may issue court proceedings, which can extend the timeline.
